It is recommended to call your doctor right away if you notice that your urine has turned dark or if you have pain in your joints. Swelling in the tendons should also be taken up very seriously. Other serious side effects of this medicine include irregular heartbeat, fast heart beat, severe depression, sensitivity to the sun or sun burn and chest pain. Inflamed colon is a very rare but possible side effect of this medicine that should be reported immediately.

The most common side effects of this medicine include nausea and diarrhea but these two side effects normally wear off after a few days. Anti diarrhea medicines should not be used since using additional medication will only make the symptoms worse. If these two minor side effects do not wear off in a few days then the patient should contact the doctor. Other side Levaquin side effects include headache, dizziness, disturbed sleep and mild insomnia.
